Absentee Ballot
In a close election, every vote is critical. If you will
be unable to vote in person on you may be eligible to vote by Absentee
Ballot. If you are
entitled to vote by absentee ballot, we encourage you to complete the
application as soon as possible and return it to the Town Clerk.
Connecticut Voting Information
Voting Early by Mail
To vote absentee
by mail you must apply for a ballot with your town clerk. You may apply
anytime for an absentee ballot.
We recommend that you apply for your ballot no later than October 22, 2008
to allow enough time to process your application.
Who can vote absentee
You may vote by
absentee ballot if you expect to be unable to appear at your polling place
during the hours of voting because of:
1. your absence from town during all the hours of voting
2. your active service in the U. S. armed forces
3. your illness
4. your physical disability
5. your religion forbids secular (non-religious) activity on that day
6. your required performance of duties as a primary, referendum, or election
official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours on that
day.
WARNING: Voting by absentee ballot if you are not eligible to do so for one
of the six reasons listed above can subject you to civil and criminal
penalties.
